Cricketers Net New Record

Solihull School’s cricketers have set a record in their run up to the new season.
The keen youngsters from the co-educational independent school began training last October – three months earlier than ever before.
Players at all levels from the Under-12s to First XI, including a girl attending 2ndXI nets, have been inspired by their full-time cricket coach David Hemp.
The former Warwickshire batsman, who captained Glamorgan two years and is the current captain of Bermuda and a regular player for Knowle & Dorridge, has been holding weekly training sessions for all age groups.
“The interest has been very encouraging given that many of the pupils are wrapped up in either hockey or rugby or in some cases both,” said David Hemp.
“While we naturally want to win as many games as possible, the extra training should help us to put ourselves in winning positions more often than not and to make ourselves hard to beat.”
Solihull School will be entering all county and national school cricket competitions as usual and adding a new local fixture against Bromsgrove School.
