Solihull School's James Trueman came up with a trio of tries as England Under 16s A, led by skipper Will Radburn from Solihull's Tudor Grange School, made it two wins out of three in the Millfield International Festival over the Easter Holidays. The Warwickshire County player's first score came in the 33-25 defeat by France in the opening game at Tor near Glastonbury. England had led 25-23 with 5 minutes to go but France came back with 2 unconverted tries to take the honours.
England bounced back with a 52-10 win against the USA, with Moseley hopeful Louis Padian from Bishop Challenor School and North Midlands starting for the first time in the tournament. Trueman added 2 more tries to his tally with Radburn coming on as a replacement.
Radburn had to go off at half-time in the final match against Wales after putting his body on the line from the off. Wales had taken a 12-3 lead before England came back with a penalty and converted try in the second half with the wind to take the lead, going on to win 25-15.
Trueman, the only Midland player to start every game, came close but for once failed to get on the scoresheet.
