Heart of England Schools Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition

On the 19th November 2006 the Solihull School Clay Pigeon teams entered the Heart of England Schools Competition. The event was held at Hereford and Worcester Shooting Ground in Redditch.

The teams were:

Ben Wiseman

B team & Individuals
Joe Marcus – Captain (UVI)
Oleg Muchin (UVI)
Pete Walden (UVI)
Ian Mason (UVI)
Andrew Griffin (UVI)
Tom Rowley (UVI)
Jasvir Virdee (UVI)
Christos Fotiadis- Wild (J4B)
Mrs D. Wild (staff)

In total 20 teams entered the competition which consisted of 10 sporting trap stands with target ranging from the welcomed teal to the dreaded rabbit. After a long morning the teams did tremendously well with the A team finishing in 6th position and the B team finishing in 4th position in their respective classes.

Special mention must go to James Mansfield who scored 45 out of 50 and James Hornsby who scored 44 out of 50.

Also entering on the day were 4 Father and Son partnerships competing against 11 such partnerships:

Mr M. Mansfield and James Mansfield (UVI) – 2nd place
Mr P. Wiseman and Ben Wiseman (UV) – 4th place
Mr A. Wild and Christos Fotiadis-Wild (J4B) – 7th place

Christos Fotiadis-Wild (J4B) also represented the school in the Under 14 category and despite being the youngest competitor came 6th in the U14 and scored higher than 3 senior competitors.

James Mansfield has also been selected for the Junior Olympics in Olympic Trap. We wish him every success in the future.
