At Solihull, we aim to meet the cultural, physical, creative and intellectual needs of all our pupils outside, as well as inside, the classroom.

Co-curricular activities play an important and stimulating role in the life of the Prep School and add a tremendous amount to the children’s all-round education.  From an early age, they are encouraged and supported to get involved in different areas of school life.  In the Early Years settings, from Nursery, Reception and Infant 1 and 2, pupils enjoy activities such as Forest School as part of their curriculum.  An age appropriate range of clubs are then offered as children progress through the Prep School.  These opportunities also help to lay the foundations for the future whereby pupils in our Senior School are encouraged to be part of the so called ‘Big 6’, of Academic Enrichment, Community Relations, Music, Outdoor Education, Performing Arts and Sport, Health & Fitness.  At Solihull we very much believe in the benefits that these areas of school life can bring to all of our pupils.  Not only can these activities be tremendous fun, they enable the boys and girls to experience new challenges, to work with others and to develop their confidence. 

Recognising the diverse range of interests amongst our girls and boys, a wide variety of lunchtime and after school clubs is available, with something for everyone.  All pupils are encouraged to get involved. By way of example, the following clubs and activities have been available during the course of the last academic year: art, athletics, chess, cricket, craft, cookery, choir, dance, debating, design technology, drama, echo club, football, hockey, language and culture club, netball, poetry, rounders, scrabble, swimming, STEAM club, tag rugby and tennis, alongside a wide selection of music groups.

Our Prep School Council meets fortnightly, providing opportunities for pupils to raise and discuss issues and implement new initiatives. The children take a full and active part in the school's annual charity fundraising and devise many ingenious and fun ways of raising money. 

The school library, which is open every lunchtime, has an extensive stock of fiction, non-fiction, reference books and periodicals. Our aim is to stimulate reading for pleasure and to encourage interest in books for enjoyment as well as interest in new areas of study. The library is a hive of activity, with some children reading, some doing research or just browsing, while others write and draw.
