Facilities

The department teaches in 3 rooms in the George Hill building and the Cooper Building, all of which are equipped with interactive white boards and audio visual facilities.

Curriculum

Sixth Form

We follow the Edexcel A level specification studying British politics in the Lower Sixth, and American Politics in the Upper Sixth.

Co-curricular

Stretch & Challenge

The Politics Book Group meets termly to discuss a political memoir or novel, and the Politics Film Club meets twice a term to watch political films. Marginal Gains is the Politics magazine produced by the students twice a term. In addition Politics students take part in the European Youth Parliament competition in the Spring Term.

Trips & Visits

Politics students visit the Houses of Parliament, attend conferences addressed by nationally significant political figures and have the opportunity to take part in the trip to New York and Washington.

Destinations

In recent years students have gone on to read Politics, often in combination with other subjects, at Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Manchester and Bristol amongst other universities.
