Economics and Business Studies
The Department teaches at Sixth Form level only. There are four full-time specialist staff with a vast amount of experience between them, as both teachers and examination markers. Both Economics and Business Studies are popular subjects with around 80 students at AS level and 60 at A2 level. Normally there will be 4 AS Business Studies sets, 3 AS Economics sets, 3 A2 Business Studies sets and 2 A2 Economics sets. The average class size is around 11, and each set benefits from being taught by two members of staff.
The standards within the Department are high, with results being very good; this is largely down to the fact that students enjoy studying both subjects and many of them will continue onto Business, Management, and Economics related courses at University. The Department also has a very good track record in preparing students for study at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
The Department is well resourced and is based on the top floor of The George Hill building. It has its own computer suite and each classroom is fitted with state of the art IT equipment.
