Economics and Business Studies
The Department teaches at Sixth Form level only. The full time specialist staff have a huge amount of experience between them, as both teachers and examiners. Both Economics and Business Studies are popular subjects and fit in with a variety of AS and A2 level study programmes. Normally about 40% of Sixth Form students will be studying the subjects. The average set size is around 12 and each set benefits from being taught by two members of staff.
The standards within the Department are high, with results being very good; this is largely due to the fact that students enjoy studying both subjects. A large percentage of our students continue onto Business, Economics, Management and related courses at University. The Department also has a good record in preparing students for study at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
The Department is well resourced and is based on the top floor of The George Hill building. It has its own computer suite and each classroom is fitted with interactive whiteboards which facilitate the use of a wide variety of ICT applications during lessons.
