PE

The Physical Education and Games programme aims to give all boys and girls a well-balanced series of activities.

Lower 5th (Year 10)


All pupils receive a single PE lesson, in addition to a Games afternoon. In Physical Education lessons pupils are taught Badminton, Fitness, Life Saving and Athletics. On games afternoons, Rugby and Hockey are the principal team games in the Christmas and Easter terms for the boys, with Cricket in the summer. For the girls, Hockey and Netball are the principal team games in the Christmas and Easter terms, with Tennis and Rounders in the summer. There are many school teams involved during the week and on a Saturday. In addition, pupils are also given the opportunity to opt for Watersports during games afternoons, once they reach this stage of their school career. There are many school teams involved during the week and on a Saturday. Boys and girls are expected to be available if required.

Upper 5th (Year 11)

All pupils receive a single PE lesson, in addition to a Games afternoon. In Physical Education lessons pupils are taught Badminton, Fitness and Water Polo. During the short summer term, before exam leave starts, pupils can opt for Athletics, Softball or Tennis. Games afternoons occur in conjunction with the 6th form. Those in school teams take part in Big Side fixtures (Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Cross Country, Cricket, Tennis, Rounders, Athletics) whilst others can opt for a range of activities including Table Tennis, Aerobics, Golf and Weight Training.
