Universities & Colleges Admissions Service

Each year virtually all of the pupils in the Upper Sixth apply to University or College. While this is a relatively straightforward process, understandably it can be confusing and/or worrying for both parents and pupils.
All applications to UK universities go through UCAS [Universities and Colleges Admissions Service].
At Solihull School we expect more than 80% of Upper Sixth leavers each year to be placed at either their first or second choice university; in many years the number is even higher. Of the remainder, all of them each year either find a suitable alternative university and course, or decide to take a Gap Year.
This section of the school website is designed to give both parents and pupils the advice and help they need to understand the university admissions process. Please refer to the relevant subsection, i.e. either “parents” or “pupils”.
If you wish to find out more about UCAS specifically, please go to: www.ucas.com
If you are interested in an option other than university, then please go the “Careers” section of this website.
