Solihull School

Cricket

Under Mr. Reddington and Mr. Delaney the Under 15 team have had a largely successful season this year.

The season started at Wolverhampton. Batting first, no batsman really got going and 137 for 9 was their target. However, this proved to be sufficient. Excellent bowling and fielding, restricting Wolverhampton to 124, Jordan Hemming taking 3 for 21. 156 for 7 was then made against King Henry VII (Jordan Hemming 57, Sam Smith 35). The opposition failed to achieve the target by some distance, eventually being dismissed for 92, Tom Madeley and Jordan Hemming bowling particularly well. Sadly, the Warwick and King's Worcester fixtures were then lost to the weather! K.E.S. Birmingham provided the next test although a very average total of 121 (Richard Johnson 34) was unlikely to be enough, and so it proved as they achieved the total with 5 overs to spare.

Batting first in the next home game against Nottingham High School, Solihull set a total of 176 for 5 with Jordan Hemming scoring 51 and Tom Lee, Richard Johnson, Sam Smith and David Ellis all contributing. Inspired by the batting performance, Nottingham were then bowled out for 97, Jordan Hemming taking 3 for 3, Sam Smith 2 for 12 and David Ellis 2 for 0!

In the final game R.G.S. Worcester batted first and scored 216 for 7 (Sam Smith, 3 for 40, Jordan Hemming 2 for 26). In the end Solihull ended up a mere 14 runs short, with Tom Lee making 56 and Joe Goddard Howe, 51*. A really good game.
