Alpine Ski Racing
Once again, the School has achieved considerable success at all levels of alpine ski racing.
The School competed in the Birmingham and South Midlands Schools Race and, for the second year in a row, took top honours by winning the Fastest Overall Team award and the U19 age category. The team comprised James Hornsby (1st in U19 and 2nd overall), Harry Hornsby (3rd in U16 and 4th overall) and Max Roberts (4th in U16 and 12th overall).
Harry Hornsby also represented the School in the West Midlands regional competition and came 1st overall and 1st in the U16 age category.
James Hornsby and Harry Hornsby were both selected to represent the West Midlands region in the national team championships. They also achieved individual success on the national (artificial surface) race circuit with James achieving a top-10 position in the U19 age category at the All England Championships and Harry a top-10 place in the U16 age category at the Welsh Open Championships.
Harry Hornsby this year secured his FIS race licence – the highest international racing level - and successfully competed in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines at the Scottish Alpine Championships (Courchevel, France), the English Alpine Championships (Puy St Vincent, France) and the British Alpine Racing Championships (Val Thoren, France).
