School Elections large
Mock Election

On Thursday, 3rd May, when many schools in the borough were closed for local elections, Solihull Junior School was gripped by Election fever. Our Mock Elections are now an annual event and much enjoyed by all.
It was another hard fought campaign with 4 Conservative candidates, one Labour, one Lib Dem and one Monster Raving Looney candidate. The candidates all delivered well thought out, impressive speeches, ably supported by their hard working campaign managers and teams. All had plenty of interesting ideas to make their junior school an even better, happier, fun-filled place. We will definitely be discussing these suggestions in our School Council meetings.
All the school voted, including teachers. The highlight of the day was when Lorely Burt, the Lib Dem MP for Solihull visited us. She explained the workings of election day to the children and answered some probing questions. She would have been delighted that Harry Morgan, the Liberal Democrat candidate, was elected to be our new Prime minister. I am not sure what she would have made of his “hench men” though! Tom Griesbach and James Berry were pretty scary!!
Harry Morgan, in his acceptance speech, promised that he would do his best to put his reforms into practice, but it all depends on whether he is allowed to….or not!! Watch this space!
