WWII Artefacts Video ConferenceOn 27th February all of J4 participated in a videoconference on World War II artefacts and how the items were used in those days.
Jane Salter, the conference presenter, spoke to us from the Imperial War Museum and Cabinet War rooms in London and asked us hundreds of questions about the artefacts, which we answered using the microphone It was a very interesting and pleasurable experience for all the children to learn and it helped us appreciate how lucky we are not to have lived through a war. The facts we learned that day amazed everyone, as words could not describe how people coped and learned to live in circumstances such as these. Also we heard about how the children got evacuated into the country, to stay with strangers who had kindly opened their houses for them. How difficult that must have been to the children and their parents leaving each other not knowing if they will ever meet again!
Mr Penney who had organised the conference was delighted to see how many children were taking part and getting involved. All the pupils were to take their chair into the Junior School Hall and bring a pencil and notebook and take down some notes. Jane covered all the information needed and questions were asked at the end of the conference. It lasted for 45minutes.
At the end of the conference all the J4 pupils were more informed about the history of World War II and how people learned to cope with it at the time.
