Welcome
Introduction
The Lower School comprises the Third form (Year 7, 11+ entrants), the Shell Form (Year 8) and the Fourth Form (Year 9).
Our aims in the Lower School are to:
- provide a caring school community in which boys and girls can make the transition to secondary education.
- offer a broad and balanced curriculum.
- establish a sound foundation in all subjects and good working habits.
- provide the necessary opportunities for boys and girls to develop and mature as individuals.
In particular, we aim to encourage participation in a wide range of extra-curricular activities,
by offering them a wide range of opportunities in such activities.
We firmly believe that good education is a three-way partnership between the School, the pupil and the parents. We will value your help, involvement and understanding as we seek to fulfil these aims.
We will also be delighted to see you at Chapel Services, particularly the annual Lower School Service (usually in the Christmas Term) as well as the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, the Lower School Sports Day and Swimming Sports and the annual Prizegiving in the final week of the school year. Parents are also welcome to support the teams in all school matches both home and away.
Pastoral Care
Your son's or daughter’s Form Tutor is your first point of contact with the School and he/she is the person who is responsible for monitoring his/her progress and welfare. The Form Tutor has the support of a Year Head as well as the Head of the Lower School. The Form Tutor is also supported by Form Benchers, senior pupils who are attached to each form.
He or she will also be in one of five Houses – Fetherston, Jago, Pole, Shenstone and Windsor – for organisation of Games and competitions.
Mr Dave Reardon, the Head of the Lower School, is responsible for the general running of this section of the school, assisted by Year Heads.
