Curriculum
As well as the core subjects, pupils choose three other GCSEs. These include History, Geography, Music, IT, Religious Studies, German, Spanish, Latin, Art and Design & Technology. Any GCSE option chosen must have been chosen in the Fourth Forms.
The Lower Fifth have exams in January and June, and the Upper Fifth have examinations in January and external GCSEs in June. Science and Mathematics have a modular structure and take some modules early.
Each section of the school has an Academic Cup, given by Lord Butterfield of Stechford. This is presented to the winning House at Prizegiving in September. Points towards the Cup are gained by examination results, term grades and commendations by members of staff for academic work. Certificates of Merit and Certificates of Excellence are awarded to recognise outstanding effort and achievement and House Certificates are given for good contributions to House activities.
