A-Level Results 2008
Two students from Solihull School clinched ten A-grades between them to crown a second successive 100 % pass rate.
Lauren Clark-Hughes and Joseph Hone each gained five As, with Joseph also achieving one of the top five marks in the country in his AQA board General Studies exam.
No less than 40 % of all candidates – a total of 55 pupils - gained at least three As, a 6 % rise on the 2007 figure.
58 % of all grades were As – compared with 54 % last year – the A – B success rate was an impressive 82.1%
Lauren Clark-Hughes gained her A grades in French, German, History, Mathematics and General Studies, and will be going on to read Modern Languages at Pembroke College, Oxford.
Joseph Hone achieved his As in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Spanish and General Studies, and will be taking up a place at Magdalen College, Oxford to read Law.
Headmaster Phillip Griffiths said: “I am delighted with another outstanding set of results, which are a tribute to the hard work and dedication of our pupils and staff.”
A-Level (2003-2008)
At Solihull School we aim to provide an excellent all-round education for our students, and we are delighted with the consistently high standards they achieve. Recent years have seen record-breaking exam results, with pass rates far exceeding the national average. Our average A-Level pass rate over the past six years is 99.7%; over the same period, 81.4% of our students achieved A or B grade passes.
