Students Boost Skills in Theatre Workshop

Solihull School’s Theatre Studies students were encouraged to go way beyond their comfort zone at a workshop with a leading theatre-in-education company.

A total of 21 A-Level pupils worked with the Splendid Theatre Company to help boost their skills at ensemble and chorus work and storytelling.

The boys and girls at the independent school were challenged to improvise in groups and tell stories verbally and through physical theatre.

Actors from Splendid Theatre also performed an adaptation of the medieval play ‘Everyman’ to demonstrate different approaches to theatre and provide valuable subject material and ideas for exams and practical work.

Jean Wilde, Head of Drama at Solihull School, said: “The workshop really stretched our students in terms of honing their performance skills, which form a big element of their A-level course.

“They thrived on the challenges and came away not only with greater knowledge but also with greater confidence in their abilities.”
