Solihull School

Debating

Solihull School has one of the largest school debating societies in the country, with over 250 pupils from all year groups taking part regularly in public speaking and debating competitions.  Debating thrives at all levels of the school, with skills honed in weekly debates from the Third Form to the Upper Sixth.  Solihull teams regularly break through to the finals of national competitions, with success continuing as the format has moved online during lockdown.  A highlight of the school events calendar is the annual Big Debate, traditionally hosted by newsreader and Old Silhillian Michael Buerk.
