A new term, a new start
It is great to be able to welcome everyone back and a special welcome to all our new students. The sense of community has been exceptionally strong throughout this half term and we hope everyone has settled into the new academic year.
The first half term of this year has been a very busy and exciting time for us as we settled into our new roles. Our Senior Bench have been brilliant and make our Bencher of the Week difficult to choose each time: duties have been allocated and so far it seems a resounding success. Their help entails the supervision of various areas of the school during lunchtimes and carrying out usher duties for the busy whole school assemblies each week. The Bench has also been there for the LVI Induction Day, Welcome Evening and Open Morning, on hand to assist pupils, parents and those who are visiting the school.
In early September, we embarked on a one-day Heads of School workshop with several other schools, where we were equipped with a deeper understanding of what our roles entail and how to effectively manage our responsibilities.
After the half term break, we will carry out assemblies in both the Senior and Junior School. Just one of the plans we have is to perform a fun barbershop quartet to encourage the Junior School boys to sing in the choir. Our aim is to encourage pupils to immerse themselves in Solihull life. Our preparations for the Winter Ball are also well underway. Each member of the Ball Committee has a specific task and we hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend this function and have a truly fantastic evening. We are all very excited to host this event and hope this will be the first of many Sixth Form Socials.
We hope that everyone has a great half term break and comes back ready for another packed half term. We have the St. Cecelia Concert, the Senior School Play, the new Arts Gala and so much more to prepare for! And if you have a spare moment, please don’t hesitate to pop in and have a chat with us – our door is always open!
Best Wishes,
