Celebrating Ukrainian Christmas

On Sunday 8 January, members of the Solihull School Community came together to enjoy a Chapel Service for Ukrainian Christmas.

The special celebration, in line with the Julian calendar, was planned by the school’s pupils from Ukraine. During the service, which was led by Reverend Rachel Hill-Brown, the children shared Christmas traditions and memories from their homeland and read prayers and hymns in both English and Ukrainian.

Mrs Chillcott, Director of Academic Guidance and Administration, who worked closely with the pupils to organise the evening said: “It was wonderful to see so many members of our Solihull Community in attendance, showing solidarity with our Ukrainian pupils and their families. The Chapel was decorated beautifully with Christmas stars, handmade by Prep School children, and, after the service we enjoyed delicious traditional dishes selected by our Ukrainian pupils. Thank you to all who joined us and donated to the retiring collection which raised over £700 for DEC Appeal.”
