Netball

Netball is a great sport for co-ordination, discipline, agility, endurance, speed and so much more! Players enjoy team cohesion, a sense of pride and belonging which build memories which last a lifetime.

Our pupils learn a variety of skills along with tactics and strategies on how to play the game, they learn to make choices, improve their decision-making and address the mental skills required for playing netball. We value Enjoyment, Sportsmanship and Compassion; through this we develop a sense of determination and commitment to improve.

Our players are hugely driven and continually strive to get better, showing great commitment to lunchtime and after school practices – we often have over forty players a night for different age groups. Through enjoyment, we have regularly reached the final rounds of national competitions; in 2022 we were one of only two schools in the country to have two teams playing in the National Finals. Many of our players represent local clubs, counties, and hubs; some play at regional level and others are with superleague teams.

Our coaching starts in our Prep School with dedicated and passionate staff who develop excellent values and pave the way by teaching core skills and match play in preparation for the transition to Senior School. Our coaching team is hugely enthusiastic and committed to providing as many opportunities as possible - we cater for all abilities with every pupil given the opportunity to represent the school. Katie Baden (badenk@solsch.org.uk) heads up our netball programme with the help of two former England players and academic staff who show great commitment and support for the game.
