Additional Information
Nursery
Children may join the Nursery in September following their third birthday.
Our Nursery curriculum takes shape across five mornings per week, and across extended days as children prepare for Reception. Our recommendation is for children to attend the Morning Session each day (Monday to Friday, 8.15am to 12pm) throughout the academic year, as well as also staying for our Lunchtime Session (12pm to 1.30 pm) from October half term onwards. To support their readiness for Reception and ensure a smooth transition, we would recommend that the children also attend at least two full days per week during the summer term.
Most of our Nursery families choose these and additional sessions.
Fees per session include a mid-morning snack and lunch, as applicable.
For children wishing to join the Nursery, places will be offered subject to a successful Nursery assessment and satisfactory reference(s), where appropriate. The Morning Session incorporates the 15 hours Government-funded entitlement. A chargeable wraparound care provision is available. Further details can be found under Wraparound Care.
Please note that all children must be toilet trained before starting Nursery, as this supports their independence and enables them to participate fully in Nursery activities.
Session Times
- Morning Session: 8.20am to 12.00pm
- Lunchtime Session: 12.00pm to 1.30pm
- Afternoon Session: 1.00pm to 3.20pm
- Full Time: Monday to Friday, 8.20am to 3.20pm
Childcare vouchers are accepted for Nursery fees.
Reception
For those children hoping to join us in Reception, they must perform sufficiently well in the Reception assessment and have supportive reference(s) where appropriate.
Please note that all children must be toilet trained prior to starting.
Infant 1
For those children hoping to join us in Infant 1, they must perform sufficiently well in the Infant 1 assessment and have supportive reference(s) from their current school.
Infant 2 (6+)
For those children hoping to join us in Infant 2, they must perform sufficiently well in the 6+ assessment and have supportive reference(s) from their current school.
All Infant 2 pupils must sit the 7+ entrance examination for internal benchmarking purposes, however they will ordinarily transfer to Junior 1 subject to sustained good performance throughout the duration of Infant 2.
Junior School
For those children hoping to join us in the Junior School, they must perform sufficiently well in the age-appropriate entrance examinations and have supportive reference(s) from their current school.
For those pupils who join us in J1 (Year 3), J2 (Year 4) or at the beginning of J3 (Year 5), the Headmaster intends to offer those pupils a place in the Senior School at the end of the first term in J3, following the Christmas term examinations.
Offers of places in the Senior School are subject to sustained good performance throughout the remainder of J3 (Easter and summer terms) and the duration of J4 (Year 6).
For those pupils who join us in J4 (Year 6), the acceptance of an offer at 10+ automatically leads to an offer at 11+.
Pupils will continue to sit our 11+ Entrance Examination in order to compete for scholarships and to provide baseline data for the school.
Senior School
All of our J4 pupils will sit the 11+ entrance examination and interview, regardless of their offer status, so that they can compete for academic scholarships and provide the Senior School with useful benchmark information.
For those pupils hoping to join us in the Third Form (Year 7), they must perform sufficiently well in the 11+ examination, interview and have supportive references from their current school.

Sixth Form
In the case of students entering the Sixth Form from other schools, admission is based on interview, reference and GCSE results.

A minimum of two Grade 7s and four Grade 6s at GCSE, including Grade 6s in English and Mathematics is required.
General Admissions Information
Our main pupil intake is the first day of the new academic year every September for entry points Reception to UVI.
Children may join the Nursery in the September following their third birthday and children may join Reception in the September following their fourth birthday.
Other admissions during the course of an academic year are by special arrangement with the Headmaster. However, we do not admit pupils during the course of the academic year from Lower Fifth to Upper Sixth.
Parents seeking the admission of their sons or daughters are asked to complete the appropriate online registration form and read the Admissions Policy.
When a place is offered to an applicant, parents are asked to confirm acceptance and to send a confirmation of entry fee. All pupils who are awarded a place are expected to stay until they are at least 16.
All admissions procedures are subject to regular review and may change at any time at the discretion of the Executive Headmaster.
