  • Prep School pupils raise over £13,000 for the Matt Gallagher Foundation

Pupils at Solihull Prep School have raised an impressive £13,000 for the Matt Gallagher Foundation following a week of fun and energetic fundraising activities during their annual Charity Week.

The event saw children from across the Prep School take part in a wide range of creative and community-minded activities - from ‘Break the Rules Day’ and a fun run, to a giant tuckshop takeover, staff dodgeball and talent shows - all in support of the Foundation which aims to make a direct, positive impact on those living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) today.

Mr Penney, Head of Solihull Prep School said: “We are immensely proud of our pupils for their compassion, enthusiasm and commitment. Charity Week is one of the highlights of our school year and raising £13,000 for such a meaningful cause, shows what can be achieved when young people come together to make a difference. I’m so proud of the generosity of our school community.”

The Matt Gallagher Foundation, was founded by former Solihull pupil and parent Matt Gallagher, after he was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in October 2023. Despite Matt’s incredibly stark diagnosis, one of his first thoughts was that he wanted to help others in his situation.

Matt, who visited the Prep School with his family during Charity Week added: “We are so grateful to the Solihull School community for their incredible fundraising and support. I really loved seeing the children collecting, donating and enjoying the fun with huge smiles on their faces! The pupils’ energy and generosity truly embody the spirit of what the Foundation stands for.”

The £13,000 total marks one of Solihull Prep’s most successful Charity Weeks to date and reinforces the school’s long-standing commitment to supporting both local, national and international causes through pupil-led initiatives.
