On Thursday 13 March, Solihull School hosted a memorable Iftar meal for staff, families, and the wider school community to mark the holy month of Ramadan. The event brought together guests to celebrate the ‘spirit of togetherness, reflection, and charity’ that is central to Ramadan.

The event, which was held on the award-winning 3-18 independent day school’s Warwick Road campus, was attended by over 200 people, including the Mayor of Solihull, who spoke passionately about the importance of community, unity and understanding across cultures.

Several Solihull pupils also took to the stage to present their thoughts, with Lower Sixth student Zain delivering a heartfelt call to prayer, setting a reflective tone for the evening.

The Iftar meal featured a stunning array of traditional dishes, allowing families to enjoy delicious food after a day of fasting. The meal was a showcase of the rich cultural diversity within the school community and provided an opportunity for attendees to learn more about the practices and significance of Ramadan.

Ms Speirs, Deputy Head Pastoral and DEI Lead at Solihull, said: “We are incredibly proud to have hosted such a meaningful event that brought our 3-18 school community together to celebrate the spirit of Ramadan.

“It is important that we create opportunities for our pupils and families to engage with different cultures and traditions, fostering mutual respect and understanding. The atmosphere in the Refectory was amazing; a really happy evening.”
