Sam Weighall, Head Boy 2011-12, came to the School on an Assisted Place
‘I cannot thank Solihull School enough for giving me the opportunity to attend such a prestigious and outstanding institution. The Assisted Place Fund enabled me to join the School, which I thought would never be within my family’s reach. Solihull School gave me countless opportunities; playing rugby to the highest of standards, performing in front of hundreds of people in musicals and debating in national competitions. The School honed my academic abilities under the guidance of a team of dedicated staff and, with their support, I gained admission to York University. The School allowed me to develop as a person, mostly because it feels like a community where everybody knows each other. This gave me a great circle of friends. The pinnacle of my time at Solihull was my second and final year, as I was given the huge honour and privilege of being Head Boy. This allowed me to be a role model to other pupils, lead the Bench (Prefects) with the Head Girl and our deputies, and be an ambassador for the School. Solihull School has given me many great memories that I will cherish’.
